KJo is only producing SOTY 2. 2.Though both the films have a love triangle, in Student of The Year you had two guys fighting over one girl and SOTY 2 has a typical Archie-Betty-Veronica love story. 3. SOTY was the debut film of all the three lead actors, Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra however, SOTY 2 features Tiger Shroff, who is already an established star. Tara Sutaria and Ananya Pandey are marking their debut with the movie. 4.Rishi Kapoor had played a gay dean in SOTY and Samir Soni is playing the principal this time. He is not playing a gay character but sources claim that he has his own quirks. 5.Sidharth Malhotra, who had played the underprivileged kid in the original didn’t leave the college at any point however, Tiger Shroff will be changing campuses. 6.The original had only a Student of The Year competition but in the second edition you also have an annual sports contest called the Dignity Cup as well.
