#KapilDev #AjaySethi #WeTheSikhs Former Indian Cricket Team’s captain, Kapil Dev and Dubai-based business magnate, Ajay Sethi have collaborated for We The Sikhs, a coffee table book that features 100 gurudwaras across the world. To introduce the book to everybody who follows or is interested in Sikhism, the terrific two have begun a world tour, which commenced on the eve of Baisakhi. Their tour began in Fresno, California, on April 13 and from there they traveled to Fremont, San Jose, San Diego and Phoenix. The first leg of the world tour came to a conclusion in Vancouver on April 18. In an exclusive conversation with us Kapil Dev had said, “I was finding it difficult to publish the book in India because there are a lot of restrictions to form a company. Then Ajay came forward and said that he will take care of it and that was a big thing because you can have something in your mind, but at the end of the day, lots of other things come into play and you need people. Ajay was one blessing for me.” Talking about the book, Ajay Sethi, the Chairman of Channel 2 Group, said, “This is Paaji’s vision and being a friend, I just got involved, it was Babaji’s order. It all work towards our vision but it rarely happens that you get to contribute towards someone else’s vision and it gives me immense pleasure that I could take his vision forward and I am so grateful that Kapil Paaji chose me.” Talking about their future plans, Sethi said, “We are planning to launch the book in New York, London, Australia, Singapore and Dubai. Wherever our Sikh community is, we want to take the book there. We are having a world tour for this book, which commenced on the auspicious occasion of Baisakhi. We have got so many e-mails, we recently got an email from a man in Turkey who asked us 'How do I become a Sikh?' So, this book will help and inspire many.” “We thought of different titles for the book like Gurudwaras Around The World, World Gurudwaras etc. then Paaji suggested that the title should be We The Sikhs. Our religion is our pride and the title itself is so strong that it gives out a big message to the world and tells them about the value of Sikhs and Sikhism,” he further added. It all started when Kapil Dev visited a Gurudwara in Pakistan and got so moved by the experience that he decided to bring Gurudwaras from all corners of the world together in one publication. It took him and Ajay Sethi five years to turn their dreams into reality. The book is divided into three sections- The Gurus, The History and Artifacts and Gurudwaras.
