President Ram Nath Kovind's invitation for the AMU's convocation ceremony to be held on March 7 is fast becoming a controversy. In a letter to the administration, the Students Union of the Aligarh Muslim University wrote that no person with the 'Sanghi mindset' will be allowed on the campus. The reason for the statement is because, in 2010, the President allegedly made a controversial remark saying that "Muslims and Christians are alien to India'. Following on that statement from eight years back, the Students Union made it clear that the President is welcome to the AMU but none from a 'Sanghi background'.
