IIITs are emerging institutions of India which growth rate is too good. If u will compare the IIITs with NITs then yes, IIITs left a strong impact in Indian education system as these institutions created milestones in very short span of time. Of course all of the IIITs are not at the same level but if you will compare IIIT Allahabad with top NITs and even with the IITs then you will get to know that in just 15 years of span it achieved a lot. IIIT Allahabad produced one of the best coders from India who are rocking in the field of IT. Here is an example...
[Techie Tuesdays] A tribute to Humblefool, the best coder that ever lived in India (He is no more on this earth.)
Since, the inputs of IITs and the top NITs are far far better than the IIITs so we have to agree the fact that IIITs are working really hard and only because of that they are creating the geniuses. I don't believe much in rankings but in QS University rankings IIIT Allahabad was placed 109th ahead of all NITs. No NITs got place in the list actually. The detailed rankings can be seen here.. University Rankings.
Overall, according to the progress of the IIITs one have to give the credits to the IIITs and its whole environment due to which it is growing so rapidly.

I would like to start by saying that comparing that 'Tags' is not a very good idea. There is no IIT(all)> IIIT(all)=NIT(all). There is a lot of overlap and fierce competition among the colleges. The standard of colleges depends the students and the professors who teach at the institutes and MHRD doesn't give the rankings of colleges.
As far as the faculty is concerned, IIIT's have faculty which is at par with with most of the other institutes with the same routine problems every college faces(Boring Lectures etc.) otherwise there are not a lot of differences in the pay packages and Infrastructure and education.
The fact that IIIT-Allahabad which was started just in 1999 is faring much better than a lot of other NIT's which were started much before is a clear indication of the fact.
It is only a matter of time that the other IIIT's (IIITDM Jabalpur, IIITDM Kancheepuram, IIIT Gwalior Etc.) catch up as they are relatively young right now (IIITDM Jabalpur is 11) and will be at par or overtake the others in just a few more years.
In IIIT's the ranking would be IIIT-Allahabad> Rest and ranking others among themselves would be a mere speculation.
P.S: Talking about IIIT-Hyderabad is not correct as this, I suppose was not the intention of the person who put this question up. It doesn't belong to this Group of IIIT's.
