Every government which came in power after independence did some good for India.
It's not like we woke up one morning and found that India has good and stable economy. I totally disagree with any person that says that all previous governments were useless and BJP government is our savior.
Remember one thing my friends, a visionary leader works on good structure of governance so even if leaders come and go the work continues. Right now I am not seeing it happening with this BJP government. Everything is so dependent on Modi that if he goes wrong and somehow leaves the position of PM everything will come down to its knees. So even if we give him 20 years not many things will improve structure wise.
Reforms are too slow, structural building almost negligible or in negative direction( if we look at education and health).
Let me give examples of few previous leaders and the structure built by them.
1. Nehru: Yes he is hated by many but many of his contribution can't be denied. After independence he gave emphasis in establishing IITs and Dam 9 to meet power requirement), which he called temple of modern India. He gave emphasis on good education and health, the results are visible now. Most important thing he did was to form non-alignment movement(NAM) i.e not to side with any super power or be dependent on them. He is dead but IITs are still flourishing and DAMs are still producing electricity for this country. He gave emphasis on nuclear program, his exact words were" As long as the world is constituted as it is, every country will have to devise and use the latest devices for its protection. I have no doubt India will develop her scientific researches and I hope Indian scientists will use the atomic force for constructive purposes. But if India is threatened, she will inevitably try to defend herself by all means at her disposal".
2. Patel: As a home minister he built a robust Civil services system in India which is not touched by Caste or religion based politics till now. They are the one behind every planning and execution since 1947.
3. Shastri: One of the shortest tenure but he is the man who brought Green revolution and white revolution in India. It still survives. India is the largest producer of milk product in the world. We are able to feed our large population because this person build a good working practices like cooperatives in villages, modernization of agriculture.
4. Indira: 1st Nuclear test was conducted in her tenure and under her leadership Maruti like company started in our country. No doubt even with good majority she went on self-destructive path.
5. Narasimha Rao: The laptop, internet and every other things we are using now can be attributed to the globalization brought by this government. Again good financial structure. The fruits we are reaping now was sown by this government.
6. Vajpayee: National Highway project, foreign policy reform, economic reforms, nuclear tests. Many of these things are still visible now.
7. Manmohan Singh: Nuclear pact with US even when BJP was dead against it( and now they support). Improving health care, bulding new IITs, RTI( one of the biggest achievement).
Okay, I can go on and on but I think by now you people have got the message. So Mr.Modi please build a good administrative structure so that even if you lose in next election people will still remember you for your contribution and whatever work you are doing will survive. Right now you interference in educations institutes, not by improving their performance but hindering their activities, not a good message. Your work with various corruption controlling agencies, not so promising, even weakening them.
At your position, people live for memorable and glorious legacy i.e how will this world remember you when you are gone. I sincerely hope you are working to build your legacy.
