Talented and versatile actor Irrfan Khan's revelation that he had been diagnosed with NeuroEndocrine Tumour has shocked the industry and his fans. The actor has shared details of his illness on social media and his fans are in a state of shock. But wait! There seems to be some positive news in store for Irrfan. A doctor has said that Irrfan’s ‘rare disease’ is curable. Talking to a leading news agency, Dr Saumitra Rawat, HoD, Surgical Gastroenterology & Liver Transplant, Sri Ganga Ram Hospital gave some insights about its nature and medication. The doctor has shared that NeuroEndocrine Tumour was an abnormal growth of Neuroendo cells which were present in bodies. When there is an abnormal growth, then it forms a tumour. It is normally seen in intestine, pancreas, lung, thyroid and other parts of the body. The doctor mentioned that with respect to Khan’s case, it depended on the location of the tumour, its size, and what was its mytotic index. He further added that such kind of tumours could be taken out surgically depending on where the tumour was localized and the chances of cure were very high. The doctor further added that once the procedure was done, the patient was required to have regular check-ups for any recurring tumours.
