Is Amir Khan correct on his comments for growing intolerance in India?

I heard Aamir making the statement (in YouTube of course). Here is the full video.

I quote him
" Kiran and I have lived all our lives in India. For the first time, she said, should we move out of India? That’s a disastrous and big statement for Kiran to make to me. She fears for her child. She fears about what the atmosphere around us will be. She feels scared to open the newspapers every day. That does indicate that there is a sense of growing disquiet,"

Please read the sentence in bold. He said it was disastrous and big statement for her to make. He never agreed with her on leaving the country, neither did he express his wish to.

And reaction to his statement just proves his point.

The stand people took to the snapdeal app whose brand ambassador is Aamir (Snapdeal takes the hit for Aamir’s ‘intolerance’ comment with #AppWapsi and #NoToSnapDeal

At least, we got something to return.

  • And the open letter posted here by @Chandrakanth Gupta invoking his religion and his no reaction to act of his "co-religionists" and the decision that "not even one rupee of my hard-earned money goes towards buying tickets for your movies". Its your(the person who wrote the letter) money and choice.

To answer the question, I think he is correct to an extend and incorrect at the same time. Correct in the sense that we are not much tolerant when it comes to accepting a person who doesn't share our ideas/opinions. We just proved ourselves. Incorrect in the sense that there is not much violence(in the name of religion)
